Collecting Personal Information

The Cross-Currents e-journal collects the following personal information from its registered users: first and last name, geographic location, and email address.  Registration, which is strictly voluntary, allows readers to post comments about articles.

Disclosure to Third Parties

The names and locations of registered users may be made public on the e-journal website, but email addresses are kept confidential by the Cross-Currents staff.

Terms of Use

These Terms of Use are a contract between you and Cross-Currents: East Asian History and Culture Review, a publication with its principal place of business at 1995 University Avenue, Suite 510, Berkeley, CA 94720-2318, U.S. By using the Cross-Currents website (, you are agreeing to be bound by the following terms and conditions (“Terms of Use”). Copyrighted works are protected regardless of the medium in which they are created or reproduced. Thus, copyright extends to both digital works and works transformed into a digital format. The copyright in the material contained on the Cross-Currents website belongs to Cross-Currents or its licensors.

This is an open access journal licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 United States License, which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full, unmodified texts of the articles in this journal for non-commercial purposes without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author, if a full citation of the source is provided.
